Server-Based Inter-Domain QoS Routing: Cost Evaluation and Decision Enforcement
نویسنده
چکیده
Inter-Domain QoS routing (route selection from multiple available routes traversing multiple domains) simply on the basis of hop count does neither ensure optimal resource utilization nor SLA fulfillment. Although some schemes (BGP-4) provide policy based routing, they are not suitable in many cases, for example, in case of resource reservation. In this paper, we argue that these schemes alone are not suitable for Inter-Domain QoS routing and propose a solution in the form of a server based cost evaluation and decision enforcement mechanism. We show that our proposal provides a feasible solution, which is based on cost evaluation and SLA. We also briefly discuss the implementation of our proposal.

A Framework for Cooperative Inter-Domain QoS Routing
Currently, a straightforward way to design BGP-based Traffic Engineering (TE) tools for stub Autonomous Systems (AS) is to rely on selfish routing mechanisms. Although TE tools can find an optimal solution, this optimum represents only a local optimum for outbound traffic. Indeed, this is one of the main limitations of the selfish routing approach. This approach makes the TE tools unaware of th...
متن کاملAn Approach to Off-Line Inter-domain QoS-Aware Resource Optimization
Inter-domain traffic engineering is a key issue when QoS-aware resource optimization is concerned. Mapping inter-domain traffic flows into existing service level agreements is, in general, a complex problem, for which some algorithms have recently been proposed in the literature. In this paper a modified version of a multi-objective genetic algorithm is proposed, in order to optimize the utiliz...

In non-stationary environment, dynamic resource reservation schemes Operating in harmony with the variability in demand patterns may provide efficient mechanisms for resource utilization and guarantee QoS compliance. In this proposed work we identify the challenges that need to be addressed in designing a three level core which consists of policy making, packet queuing and forwarding and resour...
متن کاملProvisioning QoS in inter-domain traffic engineering
This work describes an architectural framework that allows inter-domain Traffic Engineering Label Switched Paths (TE-LSPs) with guaranteed quality of service (QoS) to be setup. Such TE-LSPs, called EQ-links, are setup by coordinating path computation elements (PCEs) of neighboring autonomous systems (ASs) along a pre-determined inter-AS path, computed through cooperative interaction between pai...
متن کاملServer Based Qos Routing
We discuss schemes for a centralized implementation of a QoS routing protocol, where a route server is responsible for determining QoS routes on behalf of all the routers in a network. We argue that this centralized organization has some advantages, when compared to a conventional distributed link state implementation. We discuss techniques for efficient maintenance of QoS topology information ...
